As the world marks International Women’s Day, Oyo State joins in celebrating the invaluable contributions of women in shaping society.

In a message by Amb. Abdulsalam Abdulquadri Olusegun FEIP, Chairman of the National Forum of Chairmen and State Chairman of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) Oyo State, he highlighted the importance of recognizing the strength, resilience, and determination of women.

“Today, we gather to celebrate the remarkable achievements of women in our society. We honor their strength, resilience, and determination to make a positive impact in their communities,” Amb. Abdulquadri stated.

He acknowledged the progress made towards gender equality while emphasizing the need for continuous efforts to support and empower women. “We recognize the progress made towards gender equality, but we also acknowledge that there is still much work to be done. We must continue to support and empower women to reach their full potential.”

The celebration also paid tribute to the unsung heroes—women who work tirelessly behind the scenes to make a difference in the lives of others. “Let us honor the women who have paved the way for future generations,” he added.

However, the speech also underscored the persistent challenges women face, including gender-based violence, pay disparities, and underrepresentation in leadership positions. Amb. Abdulquadri called for collective action to tackle these issues and ensure a just and equitable society.

He extended a heartfelt appreciation to the women of Oyo State, recognizing their contributions to various sectors of society. “To the women of Oyo State, I say thank you for your contributions. Your hard work, dedication, and perseverance are an inspiration to us all.”

As Oyo State joins the global community in celebrating International Women’s Day, the message remains clear empowering women is not just a necessity but a responsibility that must be embraced by all.

Happy International Women’s Day!
