The Makinde dynasty has been thrown into mourning following the death of Engr. Sunday Makinde, the eldest brother of Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State and the Bada Olubadan of Ibadanland, Chief Muyiwa Makinde. Engr. Sunday Makinde, who was aged 65, passed away today, leaving the family and community in grief.
In a heartfelt message, Chief Akindipe Hammed Abiodun Akinsunbo, popularly known as Igba-Otun, extended his condolences to the Makinde family. Chief Akinsunbo, who is the Supervisory Councillor for Works in Ibadan NorthWest Local Government and the Mayegun of Eleyele/Arometa, described the loss as a painful and untimely event that has shaken the family, Ibadan community and entire Oyo State.
Chief Akinsunbo praised the late Engr. Sunday Makinde for his remarkable contributions to the Makinde family’s legacy and Ibadanland at large. “Engr. Sunday Makinde was a pillar of strength, a man who upheld the values of unity and progress in both his family and his community. His sudden demise is a great loss not only to the Makinde family but to Ibadanland as a whole,” he stated.
Chief Akinsunbo further prayed for strength and comfort for the bereaved family, particularly Governor Seyi Makinde and Chief Muyiwa Makinde, urging them to take solace in the impactful life of Engr. Sunday Makinde lived.
