In a significant diplomatic engagement, the Nigerian delegation, led by Joseph Olasunkanmi Tegbe, Director-General of the Nigeria-China Strategic Partnership (NCSP), visited the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Beijing. The delegation was warmly received by Du Xiaohui, Director-General of the Department of African Affairs, alongside other senior officials.
Discussions centered on bolstering the strategic relationship between Nigeria and China, emphasizing collaboration in economic development, cultural exchange, and diplomatic initiatives. Both sides reviewed the progress achieved since the appointment of the Director-General, underscoring advancements in cultural diplomacy and economic cooperation while addressing shared challenges.
The meeting also highlighted specific areas for potential collaboration. Key discussions included the adoption of modern agricultural technologies, the development of live markets, and the establishment of large-scale industrial chains to drive mutual economic growth. The delegation acknowledged Beijing’s vibrant economy as an inspiration and a model for Nigeria’s development aspirations.
“The opportunities presented during this engagement reinforce the shared vision of prosperity and collaboration between our nations,” Tegbe remarked, expressing optimism about the prospects for deeper ties.
The visit is expected to strengthen Nigeria’s participation in China’s Belt and Road Initiative and encourage further investments in critical sectors, signaling a new phase of the Nigeria-China partnership.
