

In her contribution to kick against gender based violence, the wife of the Executive Chairman of Ibadan Northwest Local Government, Alhaja Alirat Folashade Adepoju has joined women across the globe in campaigning within the nooks and crannies of the Local Government against women and Girls violence.
According to the Chairperson,the rally was a way of complementing the efforts of her Excellency, the first lady of Oyo state, Engr (Mrs) Taminominini OluFunke Makinde to ensure the sensitization against women and Girls violence reached the grassroots.


Mrs Adepoju led other women within the council area to campaign against women and Girls violence and also enlightened women on their roles as mothers to their children.
She stressed that the impact of women in the society is a top notch, hence the need to protect their dignity. She reiterated that one among three women experienced violence in their lifetime. Thus, safety and respect should be the norm and not exception. She said ‘women should say no to wife battering, molestation and harassments rather they should be seen as topmost entity in the society.


While at Dugbe market, Alhaja Adepoju charged women that with unity, modesty and self esteem,they can create a world where every woman can feel safe, valued and respected. The chairperson added that as the world marked 16days of activism against gender based violence, women should reflect and explore actionable solutions to make the society safer for all.
On the Chairperson’s entourage for the campaign program were the Secretary to the Local Government, Mrs Sarah Shobowale, wives of Councillors, Supervisory Councillors for women Affairs and Special Duties. Others were Special Adviser to the Chairman on women Affairs, Community Development officers, NCWS Members, Corp members, among others
