Otunba Ayoade Phillip, the Councillor representing the good people of Ward 12, Ibadan SouthWest Local Government of Oyo State is ushering in the holiday season with two significant humanitarian initiatives aimed at supporting families and empowering individuals in his community.
The programs, “Project Feed a Family” and “Empower 50 Widows,” will be launched under the banner of the Progressive Pioneer Humanitarian Forum this December, bringing hope and relief to those in need.
Project Feed a Family: Ensuring No Family Goes Hungry
The first initiative, “Project Feed a Family,” is set to take place on December 11, 2024 at IMG Primary School, BCJ Bus-Stop, Apata Road, Ibadan. The program aims to provide food security for families struggling to make ends meet during the festive season.
Each participant will receive a “Box of Love” filled with essential food items such as rice, beans, vegetable oil, spaghetti, tomato puree, milk, tea, and bread. Otunba Ayoade Phillip expressed his vision for the initiative, stating, “The festive season is a time for love and togetherness, but for many, it’s overshadowed by financial strain. This initiative ensures that every family has the means to celebrate the season with dignity and joy.”
The project is part of the Progressive Pioneer Humanitarian Forum’s broader mission to combat food insecurity and strengthen community bonds. The forum is calling on individuals and organizations to contribute through donations, funds, or volunteer efforts to help ensure the success of this life-changing event.
Empower 50 Widows: Tools for Sustainable Livelihoods
Later in the day, Otunba Ayoade Phillip will launch “Project Empower 50 Widows,” an initiative aimed at equipping widows and widowers with the tools they need to sustain their families and achieve economic independence. This program will also take place at IMG Primary School, where 50 widows and widowers will receive sewing machines and grinding machines to help them start or expand small businesses.
In a statement, Otunba Ayoade Phillip emphasized the importance of supporting vulnerable groups, saying, “Widows and widowers often face immense challenges. This initiative is not just about providing tools, but about offering them the opportunity to rebuild their lives and provide for their families with dignity.”
These two initiatives reflect Otunba Ayoade Phillip’s ongoing commitment to improving the welfare of his community. It’s also a joint force as a member of the executive council of Ibadan Southwest local government under the chairmanship of Hon Kehinde Akande and the leadership of Oyo State ably led by His Excellency, Engr Seyi Makinde, the Executive Governor of Oyo State.
