The Oyo State Chapter of the Nigerian Beauticians and Hairdressers Association (NBHA), in conjuction with the association’s Grand Life Patron, Chief Benedict Akika, officially kicked off the 2024 edition of the Hair & Body Exhibition on Tuesday, December 3rd. The grand event, which spans three days, is set to celebrate beauty, culture, and creativity through an array of activities and performances.
The exhibition, which runs from December 3rd to 5th, follows a structured itinerary designed to showcase the vibrant beauty and rich cultural heritage of Nigeria.
The event is divided into three key segments:
Cultural Day (Asa) (December 3): The opening day featured a captivating blend of cultural presentations, including traditional performances from the Yoruba, Igbo, and Hausa communities. There was also an enthralling Ewi (poetry) session and a colorful Hair Parade Competition, where participants showcased their creativity and skills in hairstyling.
Cultural Day (Asa) (December 3): This day focused on traditional fashion, music, and dance, with a special spotlight on the role of beauty and body art in Nigerian culture.
Asewa Oge (December 4): The opening day featured a captivating blend of cultural presentations, including traditional performances from the Yoruba, Igbo, and Hausa communities. There was also an enthralling Ewi (poetry) session and a colorful Hair Parade Competition, where participants showcased their creativity and skills in hairstyling.
Exhibition & Grand Finale (December 5): The final day will bring together the best of the exhibition, with grand displays of hair and beauty artistry, alongside the crowning of the Omidan Asa for 2024.
The 2024 exhibition was themed Carnival of Colours, reflecting the diversity and vibrancy of the Nigerian beauty and fashion industry. The event brought together hairstylists, beauticians, fashion designers, and makeup artists to showcase their creativity while celebrating the cultural richness of Nigeria.
The highlight of the opening ceremony was the much-anticipated Omidan Asa parade, where Arewa from the Irekari Zone was crowned the Omidan Asa for 2024. The competition, which celebrates the traditional beauty and poise of Nigerian women, saw participants showcase their elegance in a variety of stunning attires and hairstyles.
The event commenced with a powerful opening speech from the President of NBHA Oyo State Chapter, Chief (Mrs.) Toyin Oladapo, who welcomed guests and participants, emphasizing the significance of beauty and cultural preservation through such exhibitions.
A Goodwill Message was delivered by the Grand Life Patron, Chief Benedict Akika, who expressed his unwavering support for the association’s efforts in empowering beauty professionals across the state.
In addition, Chief (Mrs.) Olubunmi Adesanya, the founder of the NBHA Oyo Chapter, addressed the audience, highlighting the growth of the exhibition over the years and its impact on both the beauty industry and the community.
The day’s proceedings were guided by the Chairman of the Day, Hon. Akande Adeyemi, who was represented at the event.
