Honourable Abayomi Fagbenro, politically and popularly known as Bibire, today (Tuesday), has pushed his selfless humanitarian efforts to the most remote corners of Ibadan Southwest and Northwest Local Governments, feeding untold numbers of households through the distribution of relief materials.
Recall that this celebrated philanthropist launched a Cholera Sensitization drive last week Monday with the legitimate goal of educating people in these two local government areas and even beyond about the dangers of the deadly disease and how to prevent it, while also blessing them, particularly the elderly, with sizeable food items.
As if that wasn’t enough, he took his unrivalled efforts a step further by launching an agricultural initiative known as “Ere Oko Bibire,” which translates to “Dividends of Bibire Farm,” with the fine aim of feeding countless households that are struggling to make ends meet due to the current economic situation of the country.
Speaking with Polity Reporters about this new development, Hon. Bibire revealed that the relief materials supplied to residents in Ibadan Southwest and Northwest are the resultant effects of what he and his team produced from his farm.
“I won’t lie to you; the majority of our people find the current economic situation intolerable. And you will also agree with me that there is an issue with starvation and hunger in the country. As someone who enjoys solving problems, I thus considered what we could do to, at least, address this issue. After much deliberation, I made the decision to return to my farm with my team to produce all these you are seeing which I believe strongly will help feed our people to a considerable extent. Money, indeed, is not enough. I wonder how much we can share to make everyone in our country happy? Thus, that is the reason we decided to develop this initiative to ensure that our people can sleep with no empty stomach.”
He did, however, issue a clarion plea to all and sundry to embrace farming at this time, stressing that if the problem of hunger is handled, a greater portion of the country’s problems will be addressed.
He said, “I would like to take this moment to encourage our people to return to farming and make it their top priority as it is the solution to our current situation in this country. And I can tell you for free that if everyone starts farming, the skyrocketing prices of food items will drop dramatically. And by doing so, a larger portion of the country’s problems are addressed.”
He went on to say that he remains unbending in his humanitarian endeavours, having made a promise with God and humanity that his life will be dedicated to serving Him, and the people without any discrimination.
He stated, “As I promised, I have a covenant with God and humanity that my life will be dedicated to serving Him and the people with zero discrimination. And let me tell you that I have been doing this even before I ventured into politics, particularly reaching out to the less fortunate and putting smiles on their faces. And believe me, I will not cease extending my helping help to our people, most especially at the grassroots level because it is in my blood to uplift and take care of many lives as possible regardless of religion, party, association, or other factors.”
He further urged other well-meaning Nigerians to step forward and address the issue of hunger in the country, as he concluded his conversation with Polity Reporters.
He said, “Allow me to take this very opportunity to call on other well-meaning Nigerians, both here and abroad, in positions of power and authority or not, to replicate same in order to help our struggling people out of hunger. Please, let us ensure that we, at all times, try to make people happy by taking whatever small action we can to lessen hunger and eradicate poverty in our beloved country Nigeria.”
The residents, who were full of admiration, praised Honourable Abayomi Fagbenro-Bibire for his unmatched humanitarian gestures and the immense impacts he continues to make on the community by feeding them at a time when they struggle to even eat once a day.
In response to the generous gesture, a beneficiary who spoke with Polity Reporters stated that no one is praised for the amount of money in their bank accounts, but rather for the impacts they make on the lives of others with that money.
“Yes, Honourable Bibire is rich and wealthy. He has the freedom to spend his hard-earned money however he sees fit, but he chose to take this effort to provide us with comfort. This is laudable and surprising, and what makes it surprising is the fact that there is no festival going on, which is when we frequently see anything like this. My prayer for him is that God will continue to bless him so that he can remain a perpetual blessing to humanity,” he said.
Another beneficiary, stated, “Nigeria is currently facing enormous economical challenges; the cost of living is rising by the day. But here is a man who has committed himself to caring for everyone, regardless of difference. This is extremely commendable, and I pray God bless him the more. He won’t fall.”
A widow who also benefited from this development stated, “This gesture is unparalleled because here is a man who is not in government, and, for the fact that this is not the first time he has done something like this, despite knowing how expensive things are now in the country.”
A youth who was also helped told Polity Reporters: “If we have two or more people extending this kind of gestures to the people in this community, it will affect our community positively, especially indigent and the less privileged in the community, as truth of the matter is that, there is hunger in the land and many families will need this kind of support.”
The unparalleled humanitarian was the subject of intense and powerful prayers, with countless beneficiaries praying God to give him the strength and resources to even accomplish much more.
This was not a party-based exercise as only those who deserve it were “blessed” with the food palliatives.
