Oyo State Govt Launches Anti-Cultism Campaign

In a significant move to sensitize Nigerian students, the Iseyin South LCDA held an anti-cultism program at Koso Community Grammar School in Iseyin. The event, which took place on Tuesday, July 9th, 2024, was spearheaded by Hon. Oladipupo Solomon Damola, Vice Chairman of Iseyin Local Government and political head of Iseyin South LCDA.

The program, initiated by the Oyo State Government under the leadership of Governor Seyi Abiodun Makinde, aimed to raise awareness among students about the dangers and consequences of cultism. The campaign, tagged “Say No to Cultism,” sought to educate students on the negative impacts of cultism on their lives and society.

A highlight of the event was the presence of Dr. Olufemi Michael from the prestigious University of Ibadan. In his enlightening lecture, Dr. Michael addressed the harmful effects of cultism, urging students to avoid any activities related to it. He emphasized that involvement in cultism could jeopardize their academic success and hinder the fulfillment of their potential.

Dr. Michael also extended his message to parents and guardians, stressing the importance of monitoring their children to prevent them from engaging in negative activities. He highlighted that teachers also have a crucial role in guiding students with integrity and humanity.

In his remarks, Hon. Oladipupo Solomon Damola encouraged students to focus on their academics and harness their natural abilities to create opportunities within their communities. He urged them to avoid behaviors that could cut their lives short and called on parents and teachers to fulfill their responsibilities diligently.

The Vice Chairman also took the opportunity to thank all attendees and invited guests, acknowledging their support and participation in the event.

Among the notable attendees were Hon. Saminu Kehinde (Leader of the House, Ward 6), Hon. Ogundare Mojeed (Ward 9), Hon. Komolafe Elizabeth (Ward 10), Hon. Ahmed Biliaminu (Ward 11), Hon. Opadijo Rasheed (Ward 2), Hon. Adeyemi Sulaiman (Ward 7), and several other dignitaries, including personal assistants to the Vice Chairman.

Other distinguished personalities present included Mr. Gbadamosi Ismail (HLA of Iseyin South LCDA), Mr. Olarewaju Kayode (DASH), Mrs. Adeyemo Grace (DF), and Mr. Oladotun Taiwo (School Principal).
