Renowned philanthropist and Oyo State’s esteemed citizen, Chief Benedict Akika, Agba’Akin Atayese Agbaye Oodua, marked his birthday on July 9 with a gesture of kindness, continuing his tradition of generosity by donating to charitable causes and bringing joy to the underprivileged, spreading smiles and warmth on his special day.

As part of his birthday celebrations, Chief Benedict Akika visited Oyiza Orphanage, where he spent a heartwarming time with the children. He expressed his delight in seeing the smiles on their faces, stating, ‘I decided to share my special day with these precious ones, bringing joy and love to their lives. It’s a truly uplifting experience to see their faces light up with happiness.

“To the glory of God, I was able to buy some gifts and presents for them.

“True goodness is its own reward. Let us continue to show respect and kindness to all individuals, regardless of their background, status, or position in life – whether they are from the past, present, or future. By doing so, we create a ripple effect of positivity and foster a culture of compassion and understanding.”

He said welcoming the orphanage on his birthday and sharing the good moment with them was the highlight of his day.

On how he feels being able to celebrate his birthday, the philanthropist said “I am most grateful for life because it’s the biggest gift anyone can have.

“When there’s life, there’s hope. I am also grateful for how far God has brought me, his divine protection, undying love, inexplicable blessings, and unmerited favours and how much God pampers me and my family like an egg, and with the recent gift of twins”
