The former caretaker chairman Ibarapa central local government and a former candidate of Oyo state House of Assembly under Accord party Hon.Sarafadeen Olaoniye Bibiire has described the level of poverty in Nigeria as a situation where Nigeria is sitting on a keg of gun powder.

Hon Olaoniye stated this at an empowerment programme organized by a former Representative representing Ibarapa central/North at the House of Reps, Hon. Ajibola Muraina.

Olaoniye who said the country was pushing many citizens into poverty because of poor implementation of good policies, explained that ego, self-centeredness, ethnic and religious jingoism, with lack of understanding on the part of leaders has hampered development in most African countries.

Hon. Olaoniye who commended Hon. Saubana Muraina for empowering the people despite not being in office, used the opportunity to call on well meaning individuals and politicians to emulate Hon. Muraina who is promoting the youths.

Items distributed to youths at the event include tricycle, motor cycles, grinding machines and others

Meanwhile, Olaoniye Bibire called on Oyo State Government to make Ibarapa region a priority as votes from Ibarapa played a major role in the emergence of the governor during the elections.
