The Executive Chairman of Ibadan Northwest Local Government, Alh AbdulRahman Olanrewaju Adepoju has felicitated Christain faithfuls across the nooks and crannies of Ibadan Northwest Local Government and Oyo State in general on this year’s Christmas celebrations with a charge to desist from immoral acts that could truncate the growth of the society.
The words of advice were contained in his Christmas message to the residents of the Local government Area
According to the Council Boss, Christmas is a special festive period to celebrate the birth of the Lord Jesus Christ,hence all his teachings and practices must be emulated by all and sundry. He maintained that part of the teachings of Jesus Christ as stated in the Holy Bible were love, peace, tolerance charity, perseverance, forgiveness among others. In this regard, everyone must desist from immoral acts that could tarnish their image as a good christain.
The Chairman reiterated that moral decadence lowers standard for appropriate behaviors. Violence has become rampant, sexual harassment and corruption have become an everyday occurrence. He said ” all these have adverse effects on the society because they change cultural, moral and social norms”.
Alh Adepoju used the festive season to implore residents of Ibadan Northwest Local Government especially the youths to engage in self help projects that could bring development to the community rather than involving in nefarious activities like stealing, burgling pickpocket, money rituals, online fraud kidnapping, prostitution etc. The Chairman called for cautions on any acts that could bring disrepute to them and their family.
He affirmed that his administration has put all necessary security measures in place to ensure a peaceful celebration during and after the yuletide season.
In the meantime, the Executive Chairman has rejoiced with the citizenry for witnessing this year’s Christmas celebrations inspite of all odds. He prayed for all to overcome the economic recession, stressing that it is only God that has solutions to all social challenges, hence the need to deepen one’s faith in Him.
In the same vein,the Executive Chairman on behalf of all his working cabinet has Congratulated the Executive Governor, His Excellency Engr Oluwaseyi Abiodun Makinde on his 56th Birthday celebration, praying to God to uphold, sustain, protect, defend and exalt him for good.
