The Pink Awards, an initiative of La Veronique magazine, has named Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde as the best state governor in Nigeria.
The award, presented at the 10th anniversary of the Pink Awards held at the Sheraton Lagos Hotel in Ikeja on Sunday 26th November, 2023 recognised the sterling performance of Governor Seyi Makinde as a primus inter pares in public service and governance in Nigeria.
Dr Joe Okei-Odumakin, the promoter of the Pink Awards, whilst addressing the event stated that Governor Makinde emerged as the top choice for the best State Governor based on his performance, legacy achievements, accessibility, affability, acceptance in his home State, and national recognition and profile.
While receiving the award on behalf of Governor Seyi Makinde, the Chief of Staff, Otunba Segun Ogunwuyi attributed the success of the administration to visionary leadership, inclusive civic engagement, robust project implementation framework, and strong commitment to a motivated workforce.
The award recognized Governor Makinde’s unique style of governance and significant accomplishments in various sectors of the economy, from infrastructure, healthcare, education, youth development, agribusiness to culture, and tourism.
