The Yoruba Council of Youth Worldwide (YCYW), Oyo State Council, has commended Governor Seyi Makinde’s progressive plan to establish a Council of Obas in Oyo State. In a statement signed by Chairman Asoju Odo Alawode Rahmon and released by Head of Publicity Omoluabi Eruobodo Sodiq, YCYW highlighted that this initiative would foster peace, unity, and collaboration among traditional rulers, advancing Oyo State’s socio-cultural and administrative goals.
YCYW praised the governor’s dedication to aligning traditional institutions with state development objectives, calling the proposed council a historic move to preserve Yoruba heritage. This assembly, they believe, will empower royal institutions to collectively shape Oyo’s future.
The council encouraged all Obas to support Governor Makinde’s vision, which was presented just before the 2025 budget announcement, as it promises long-term harmony and prosperity for the traditional council and the state.
