The Senior Special Assistant to Oyo state Governor Engr. Seyi Makinde on Community Relations (Igbo Community) has declared that the three decades factional leadership crises rocking the Igbo community in resident in Oyo state will soon be a thing of the past.
The Governor’s senior aide declared this shortly after a closed door meeting with the representatives of the three factional groups laying claim to the leadership of Ndi-Igbo in Ibadan, Oyo State with representatives of other zones outside Ibadan, (Saki, Ogbomosho, Oyo, Eruwa, Okehu, Kisi, Iseyin) as members of the Peace Panel, held at the conference room of the Secretary to the State Government, state Secretariat, Agodi Ibadan.
He expressed gratitude to the different factions for committing to the peace process, noting that the major hurdles towards achieving lasting peace have been overcome, with the presence of the representatives of the major key players.
Despite falling short in disclosing the specifics of the outcome, the Governor’s aide said the committee deliberation was adjourned for one week to give room for further consultations on the way forward.
The meeting was attended by notable personalities including Engr. Ndubuisi Okorie,Ibadan, Engr. Ndidi Nzeako, Ibadan, Chief Timothy Eze, Ibadan, Barr. Promise Aja, Ogbomosho, Nze Patrick Ezenwuba, Saki, Mr Onwe Michael, Eruwa, Chief Ononuju Felix, Oyo Alaafin, Mr Ogbonna Emmanuel, Okeho among others.
