In a landmark convergence, Civil Society Organizations (CSOs), political stakeholders, students, community leaders, and development experts gathered to tackle emerging issues and navigate the roadmap for sustainable development in Oyo State.
Dr Oladoyinbo in his keynote address emphasized the importance of community-led initiatives and effective partnerships. He noted that collaboration is key to achieving sustainable development. Government must work together to address local challenges,” he stated. He commended the adminstration of Governor Seyi Makinde and want the community to still look into how he can block leakage of revenue which finds its way into the hands of non – governmental structure. Dr Oladoyinbo critically dissect the running of the government and suggested various strategie for Oyo State Government to work on.
Key stakeholders in Oyo State also gathered to discuss the state’s development. Dr. Akin Fagbemi, Chairman of the Oyo State Hospital Management Board, highlighted healthcare reforms, including upgrading facilities, recruiting medical personnel, and implementing health insurance schemes.
The Special Assistant on Politcal Matters to Governor Seyi Makinde Mr Adeyemo Adedeji Ola in his remarks, stated that the solution focused summit is another significant milestone in Govenor Seyi Makinde’s pursuit of efficient and inclusive governance in Oyo State.
“We understand that there are emerging issues in the country, that is why we have brought together experts, policymakers, and critical stakeholders to navigate these challenges for the benefit of the good people of Oyo State”
According to him, the summit underscores the commitment of the current administration in the state to citizen feedback and collaborative efforts with key stakeholders.
He maintained that he was optimistic that after the summit, robust framework, ideas, suggestions and recommendations capable of inspiring more positive moves in oyo state would be identified
Barrister Olasunkanmi, Commissioner for Agriculture, showcased Governor Seyi Makinde’s groundbreaking agricultural initiatives. These initiatives include upgrading farm settlements into agribusiness industrial hubs, empowering youths through training and support, and providing farmers with essential resources like ploughing services. Additionally, there are plans to recruit agricultural officers to each local government in the state, ensuring expertise is readily available.
Pastor Suleiman, Chief Press Secretary, shared insights into Governor Seyi Makinde’s communication strategies, while Rtrd Commissioner Odukoya, Executive Assistant to the Governor on Security Matters, provided expertise on security initiatives.
Professor Musbaudeen, Commissioner for Budget and Planning, recently shared valuable insights into Governor Makinde’s administration, highlighting its impressive economic growth. Since Governor Makinde took office, Oyo State’s value has skyrocketed from over two trillion naira to an astonishing six trillion naira.
The panelists praised Governor Makinde’s significant contributions to critical sectors in Oyo State.
Honorable Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Wasilat Adegoke, highlighted Governor Seyi Makinde’s remarkable contributions to youth development and sports in Oyo State during a recent panel session. She shared the inspiring story of Mariam, a young girl whose video went viral, and how the state government sponsored her to participate in the National Youth Game in Asaba, where she won a bronze medal for the state.
Governor Makinde’s administration has made significant strides in youth empowerment through various initiatives, including: wealth Creation, an economic empowerment program to make youths self-reliant and job creators.
Dr. Ibrahim Salami Dikko, Chairman of Pacesetter Transport Services, praised the Omituntun Bus initiative for easing transportation pressures on residents. This innovative project has enhanced the state’s transportation infrastructure, ensuring safe, adequate, and efficient transport services.
Meanwhile, Honorable Olufade revealed that local government chairmen are poised to replicate Governor Makinde’s programs at their respective local governments, demonstrating the administration’s commitment to grassroots development.
The NUJ Chairman in Oyo State urged young government appointees to lay solid foundations in their offices, emphasizing the importance of accountability and effective governance.
Distinguished guests at the event included Hon. Demola Akeem Ige, Chairman of the Local Government Pension Board; Hon. Moses Alao, Executive Assistant to the Governor on People Living With Disabilities (PWLD); and Hon. Moses Alao, Special Adviser to the Governor on Print Media. Other notable attendees were Comr. Lere Omoetan, members of Civil Society Organizations, executives and members of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), PWLD members, and many others.
Comrade Adeyemo Deji Ola praised Governor Seyi Makinde’s outstanding initiatives in the state and assured the gathering that their views would be conveyed to the governor.
