Senior Security Officers in various Divisions have been advised to be more cautious in delegating duties to their subordinates so as to have commendable operational services.
The Executive Chairman of Ibadan Northwest Local Government, Alh AbdulRahman Olanrewaju Adepoju gave the assertions at the Peace and Security meeting held at the Council Secretariat, Onireke ,Ibadan.
The Executive Chairman reiterated that the lackadaisical attitude of some officers during operations have flopped many operational services,hence making some suspected criminals look smarter than the security personnels. He maintained that competency is very essential in any skill so as to have an effective output.
The Council Boss added that there must be a proper synergy among the security operatives so as to achieve the desired goals for the Local Government and the State in general.
On the emergent of nefarious criminals within the nooks and crannies of the Council Area, the Chairman charged the Security Agencies to do the needful in their various jurisdictions and ensure that all concerned are apprehended. He said ‘anyone found disrupting the peace of the Council be apprehended and charged to appropriate authorities for further actions. Whoever found wanton should be punished not considering whose Ox is being gored”. The Chairman assured the Security Agencies that necessary logistics needed will be provided by the Local Government to complement their efforts in discharging their duties as expected.
Alh Adepoju further enjoined the CDC, religion and Traditional Council representatives at the meeting to sensitize their people in the community, Churches and Mosques on cholera preventive measures. He reiterated that the recent cholera outbreak in Akintola Area of the Local Government is still under control. And to avert any further outbreak in the Local Government, residents must be properly enlightened on various preventive measures against the cholera outbreak. He stressed that though, there is paucity of funds in the Council presently, but assured that all blocked drainages and bridges within the Council will be evacuated to avert flood or breakup of any pandemic.
The Council Boss warned that whoever caught dumping refused indiscriminately or defecating openly will be severely dealt with.
On the issue of Safe and Serve bridge at Eleyele which has become a death trap, the Executive Chairman promised to contact the appropriate Authority in the State to do the needful in the Area so as to prevent incessant accidents which claim lives on daily basis.
The Chairman later implored the Security Operatives not to relent in discharging their duties as expected by ensuring that the visions of His Excellency Engr Oluwaseyi Abiodun Makinde in the area of Security network for the state come to reality.
In their separate reports, representatives of various Security Agencies present at the meeting commended the Executive Chairman for his support in all ramifications by ensuring that the environment is conducive for them to work.
However, they charged all and sundry to be patient, security conscious and law abiding in their day to day activities especially in the upcoming ember months. They maintained that the security of lives and properties is a joint effort, so if they see something, they should speak out for quick interventions.
The meeting which was chaired by the Executive Chairman had in attendance the Vice Chairman and Political Head of Okebadan North LCDA, Alh Ganiy Abiodun Omotosho, Chief of staff, Hon Kazeem Fantola , Head of Local Government Administration
(HLGA)Mrs Rahael Olabode, Acting HLGA, Okebadan North LCDA, Alhaja Mujidat Ojewumi and Director of Administration and General Services, Mrs Folashade Olanrewaju.
Others were DPO from Mokola, Eleyele, Iyaganku and Mapo Division. Representatives from NSCDC, FRSC, Army, Immigration, NDLEA, Customs, DSS, CDC, CAN, MAN, Igbo group and Amotekun were also in attendance.
