The Executive Chairman of Ibadan Northwest Local Government , Alh AbdulRahman Olanrewaju Adepoju has implored all the security Operatives within the Local Government not to relent in their active services in curbing social menaces within the Local Government and the state in general.
He made the assertions at the Local Government Peace and Security meeting held at the Council secretariat Onireke, Ibadan.
The Chairman reiterated that Ibadan North-west Local Government has been rated as the most peaceful local government among others hence the need to sustain the peaceful co-existence being enjoyed by all and sundry in the Council Area.
Alh Adepoju maintained that all hands must be on deck to secure the lives and properties of residents of the Local Government and the state in general in the upcoming protests from miscreants whose motives towards the protests are of selfish interests.
The Chairman admitted that Protest is constitutonally allowed in any democratic settings in as much as it does not affect the pleasant atmosphere of the society. He charged all Community stakeholders to work in harmony with the security operatives in curtailing immoral acts in the society.
The Chairman commended the Executive Governor of the state, His Excellency Engr Oluwaseyi Abiodun Makinde for all preventive measures he has put in place to ensure a hitch free Protests in the state.
In their separate remarks, the security operatives eulogised the Executive chairman for his supports in making the environment conducive for them to carry out their duties effectively.
They ascertained that Crime rates in Ibadan Northwest Local Government have reduced drastically with unalloyed supports from the Community Leaders in all ramifications
On the Protests, the security operatives assured the Executive Chairman and the citizenry that necessary security mechanisms have been put in place across the nooks and crannies of the state to prevent any immoral activities during and after the protests. However, they charged the citizenry to report any nefarious activities in their area as soon as possible for immediate interventions.
They all affirmed that protests is a lawful endeavor by the citizens to express their grievances to the Government in a peaceful manner but becomes unlawful if it involves violent.
They enjoined Parents and guardians to warn their wards who will be participating in the protest to be law abiding, else whoever find wanting will be punished in accordance with the law.
Also, in their remarks, the Traditional Chief, Community leaders.and religious bodies commended the security operatives for their steadfastness in discharging their duties to reduce crime rates in the council area. They appreciated the Executive Chairman for the level playing field given to the community stakeholders and security operatives to work harmoniously in achieving their target goals of making Ibadan NorthWest Local Government the most peaceful Council area politically, religiously and socially in the state. They assured the Chairman and the security agencies their continous supports in putting zero tolerance to Crime in Ibadan North West Local Government.
The meeting which was chaired by the Executive Chairman had in attendance the Vice Chairman, Alh Ganiy Abiodun Omotosho, DPO from Iyaganku, Eleyele, Mapo and Mokola Divisions. Other Security stakeholders present were NSCDC , FRSC, NDLEA, DSS, Immigration Amotekun,, community Leaders, Religious Bodies and Traditional Chief.
Also in attendance were the Chief of staff, Alh Kazeem Fantola,Head of Local Government Administration Mrs Rahael Olabode, the Director of Administration and General Services, Dr Folashade Olanrewaju among others.
