In a remarkable show of community support and commitment to media sustainability, the Aare Egbe Omo Balogun of Ibadanland and Chairman of Solutions 93.9 FM, Oloye Adegboyega Taofeek Adegoke, FCA, has extended a generous donation to the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) Ibadan to rehabilitate and restore its dilapidated infrastructure.
The gesture followed a courtesy visit on Wednesday by the NTA Ibadan management team to Oloye Adegoke at his Aweni House office, Oke-Ado, Ibadan. During the visit, the station’s executives revealed that they had been struggling with transmission due to ageing facilities and obsolete equipment.
Recognising the historical significance of NTA Ibadan as the first television station in Africa, Oloye Adegoke underscored the importance of preserving its legacy and ensuring it remains a functional and reliable medium for information dissemination.
“NTA Ibadan is more than just a television station, it is a heritage and a beacon of information for generations past, present, and future. Allowing it to fade away would mean losing a vital piece of our media history,” he stated.
The support will be channelled towards the rehabilitation of critical infrastructure, procurement of essential broadcast equipment, and enhancement of the station’s overall transmission capacity.
The NTA management expressed deep gratitude for the intervention, describing Oloye Adegoke’s support as timely and lifesaving for the station’s operations.
