A prominent sociopolitical support group in Nigeria, Seyi Makinde Disciples (SMD), has extended warm congratulations to the newly elected House of Representatives member for Ibadan North Federal Constituency, Hon. Folajimi Oyekunle DON, following his resounding victory in the August 16 Bye-Election under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
In a statement released and jointly signed by the group’s Convener, Laja Adeoye, and Spokesman, Olusegun C.A. Taiwo (OCAT), SMD described the victory as “another testament that the PDP remains the only political party capable of rescuing Nigeria and restoring the dignity of governance.”
The group praised Governor Seyi Makinde for his visionary leadership in Oyo State, noting that his developmental strides and inclusive governance style were pivotal in strengthening the people’s confidence in the PDP across the state.
“Governor Seyi Makinde has continued to set the pace as a shining example of good governance, accountability, and people-oriented leadership. His influence was a strong factor in this victory, and we are proud to identify with his progressive agenda,” the statement read.
SMD also commended the electorate in Ibadan North for their steadfast support of the PDP, urging Hon. Oyekunle to remain steadfast in his legislative duties by ensuring quality representation, effective lawmaking, and constituency development.
The group further admonishes members to keep their loyalty to the PDP and commitment for more grassroot mobilization ahead of the 2027 general elections, emphasizing that the party remains the hope of Nigerians yearning for true change.
