The Executive chairman of Oluyole Local Government, Engineer Akeem Olatunji, has been recognized for his outstanding leadership and commitment to grassroots development by being appointed as a Grand Patron.
Nylon cutters and sellers in Oyo state under the aegis of Nylon Cutters and Sellers Association of Nigeria, Oyo state chapter, presented the honor to Olatunji yesterday in Ibadan.
The State Chairman of the Association, OTUNLA Olalekan Alabi, accompanied by the chairperson of Oluyole local government chapter, Mrs Adijat Ajewumi, presented the Council boss with the award at the Local Government Secretariat, Idi-Ayunre, Ibadan.
In his acceptance speech, Olatunji, overwhelmed with joy, expressed gratitude for the recognition, staying the gesture clearly demonstrates that efforts of his administration in line with the vision of Governor Seyi Makinde on Sustainable Development agenda were being recognized and acknowledged by the people.
Olatunji, who lauded governor Makinde for championing what he described as aggressive infrastructural revolution in Oyo state noted that it was only natural and imperative for his administration in Oluyole to key in and fully align with such people focused administration.
He added that governor Makinde’s visionary leadership has kept him and all other chairmen at the local government level on their toes because of the leadership standard already set out by the governor which he said could not be compromised on.
He vowed to continue to create a business friendly environment that would guarantee good returns on investment of investors in the Oluyole economic development agenda.
He assured that he would continue to formulate and implement policies and programs targeted at alleviating poverty from Oluyole local government while providing infrastructure and social amenities that improves the quality of life of the people at the grassroots.
Speaking on the award, Olatunji said, “This award is not just a personal achievement but a reflection of the collaborative efforts of our administration and the manufacturers who are vital to our economic growth.
“It’s indeed a clear testament to the fact our little little efforts are already manifesting and are being noticed by our people. And I can assure you this will only motivate me to double efforts to deliver more dividends of democracy to our people at the grassroots.
Earlier, chairman of the Association,Mr Otunla who showered encomium on Olatunji for his all inclusive and open door approach to governance said, the council boss has been instrumental in implementing policies that support local manufacturers, including initiatives aimed at reducing bureaucratic barriers and improved infrastructure.
He added that under Olatunji’s leadership, Oluyole LG has seen a boost in local businesses, which has led to increased job opportunities and economic stability which he said assured of a more brighter future ahead.
Otunla, who presented the award, emphasized Olatunji’s vision and dedication which he likened to Governor Makinde’s style of governance, noting that his efforts have engendered a conducive environment for their businesses to to thrive in Oluyole.
He assured that the Association will continue to partner with Oluyole local government and look for ways to further deepen areas of mutual interest towards economic development of the Council urging Olatunji not to hesitate to reach out to them for more collaboration and partnership.
