The Ibadan Chapter of the Old Students Association of Olivet Baptist High School, Oyo converged at the weekend in Ibadan for her 2024 Health Walk.
The third edition of the Health Walk tagged “Walk 4 Life”, sponsored by Barrister Akeem Agbaje was supported by the Chairman, Oyo State Board of Internal Revenue (BIR), Mr. Adebowale Olufemi Awakan; Dr. Wale Okediran, the Secretary General of Pan Africa Writers Association, who is also the National President of Olivet Baptist High School Old Students Association; Mr. Olawale Awomolo and other notable members of the association.
While speaking on the exercise, the Chairperson of the Chapter, Alhaja Temitope Kolawole said the fitness walk was organized to create awareness about the association and mobilize members who reside in Ibadan but are unaware of the association.
She explained that the previous editions of the health walk yielded positive results, and the Ibadan Chapter of the association can now boast of reasonable active members.
Alhaja Kolawole, who applauded the organizing committee led by Mr. Babatunde Aminu, sponsors of the event, elders, and the entire members of the association for their continued support, implored the committee to look at the possibility of having the health walk twice a year.
She attributed the success of the event and its sustainability to the commitment of members and generous donations.
She urged participants to facilitate the participation of their colleagues who are yet to join the association in Ibadan.
On his part, the Chairman, Oyo State Board of Internal Revenue (BIR), Mr. Adebowale Olufemi Awakan, an alumnus of the school, emphasized the need to continually promote the fitness walk and make it more attractive for more people to participate.
Awakan noted that the Walk is vital in keeping the body in a good state, thereby improving the productivity of individuals at their places of work.
Participants walked from the Oyo state Secretariat to Bodija market axis during the Health Walk which lasted for more than an hour.
