The National Association of Nigerian Traders (NANTS), Oyo State Chapter, has distanced itself from individuals accused of impersonation and disrespect towards the Soun of Ogbomosoland, Oba Ghandi Afọlábí Oladunni Ọláoyè, Orumógege III.
In a statement released by the association’s chairman, Chief Theophilus Olawoyin, and other executive members, NANTS reaffirmed its commitment to structure, discipline, and respect for traditional institutions. The statement clarified that certain individuals Princess Aderonke Adedoja, Nureni Alade, and Alhaji YK Olawuyi are not members of NANTS and that their actions do not reflect the values of the organization.
“Our group, NANTS Oyo State, is a well-structured and organized association with a verified database. We wish to make it clear to the public that Princess Aderonke Adedoja, Nureni Alade, and Alhaji YK Olawuyi are not our members. Their activities do not represent us,” the statement read.
The association reiterated its utmost respect for the Soun of Ogbomoso, emphasizing that it would never engage in any form of disrespect toward the revered royal institution.
“His Majesty, Oba Ghandi Afọlábí Oladunni Ọláoyè, Orumógege III, remains our distinguished royal father. NANTS Oyo State holds the throne in the highest regard and would never tolerate any act of disrespect against it,
Also we respect our religion fathers of both faiths; Chief Imam and Pastor because we all are practicing Muslim and Christian” the statement continued.
Furthermore, NANTS Oyo State called on traders and artisans in Ogbomoso to disregard any program organized by individuals not affiliated with the association. Specifically, the group warned against participation in an artisan-related event spearheaded by Alhaja Saraat Aduke Konibaje, Aderonke Adedoja, Nureni Alade, and Alhaji YK Olawuyi, labeling them as impersonators.
The association urged all artisan groups in Ogbomoso to align with the recognized artisan bodies in Oyo State. It also called on Alhaji Ejide to distance himself from the individuals in question and avoid involvement in unauthorized activities.
NANTS reaffirmed its leadership in Ogbomoso through its zonal coordinator, Chief Mutiu Sanni, and Chief Mrs. Bola Akande (Iyaloja Ogbomoso), encouraging all traders and artisans to follow the proper channels for representation.
With this firm stance, NANTS aims to uphold its integrity and maintain a respectful relationship with the traditional institutions of Oyo State.
