… To extend the project to churches, mosques, PHCs, others before the end of tenure
As part of efforts to further enhance security of lives and property of his constituents, the lawmaker representing Ibadan South East/North East federal constituency in the House of Representatives, Rep. Abass Adigun (Agboworin), has, again, commenced massive installation of additional solar-powered streetlights across all the wards in his constituency.
The project, which would be implemented in phases, has begun in Ward 6, ward 7 and Ward 11 area of Ibadan South East local government area.
While this development is coming in a bid to fulfill his electoral promises, it is equally borne out of passion to provide much-needed basic amenities that are aimed at enhancing commercial activities on the streets, communities, and markets within the constituency.
The project would, no doubt, complement the efforts of the state government being led by His Excellency, Engr. ‘Seyi Makinde, to making the constituency adequately illuminated.
It could be recalled that since year 2020, Agboworin has been carrying out the project, which he sees as a continuum in his agenda.
While a huge number of communities in the two local government areas under his constituency had benefited, some are just benefiting from the intervention.
All the communities in South East part of the constituency, which have benefitted from the project include: Beere-Oke Dada-Mapo in (Ward 1); Aleshinloye Palace area, Lako community, Kudeti (Ward 2); Layi Balogun to Oranyan, Kobiowu (Ward 3); Idi-Ape to Layi Balogun – Suliyat Adedeji (Ward 4); Hausa community (Ita Olukoyi) in (Ward 5); Ita-Ege Ashanke road- Modinat, Ayedaade community, Adebolu-Adelagun, Adebolu-Modinat (Ward 6), Seminbio-Budaale; Tafa community (Ward 7); Kajola Irede area; Kajola Irede-Alake; Ile-Lekan-Modinat junction (Ward 8); Kudeti-Olunloyo, Odo-Ada community (Ward 9); Iyana Court, Yerokun, (Ward 10); Onigaari market and Crown chemist-Lion junction (Ward 12), and many other locations.
In the North East local government area, the communities in the wards, which have already been covered include Odo-Osun in Ward 1; Oranyan livestock market in Ward 2; E3/E4 Iyana Ile – Oba Ogundipe to Akosile Street in Ward 3; Obisesan Street, Benbow in Ward 4; Aderogba Alafara Street, Ward 5; Oje market in ward 6; Adeemodo Street in ward 7; Agugu, Ode-Aje in Ward 8; Koloko, Agugu market in ward 9; Irefin Olose Street, in Ward 10 and Ik-Dairo in Ward 12.
Rep. Agboworin, who is also the Chairman of the House Committee on Narcotic Drugs, has assured that the project would be extended to a number of churches, mosques, Primary Health Centers (PHCs) and motor parks/garages in the constituency before the end of his tenure.
Speaking on the development, Agboworin said: “This initiative would, no doubt, touch numerous communities in all the wards in Ibadan South East and Ibadan North East. I am doing this to enhance safety and security in public places and to equally promote social and economic activities in the communities that have not yet benefitted from the project.
“I want to use this opportunity to support what the state governor, His Excellency, Engr. Seyi Makinde, is doing at the state level, and to make sure that my constituency is not lagging behind in terms of infrastructural development.
“So, this is coming up again because I know it is very important that dividends of democracy gets to our people.”
In a related development, some excited community leaders have expressed profound gratitude for being beneficiaries of Rep. Agboworin’s benevolence, noting that the solar street lights would, in no small measure, improve the security condition of their areas.
They admired the lawmaker’s leadership, praising the Light-Up Project as a testament to his practical commitment to the people’s welfare and unalloyed dedication to transforming their communities.
“I can tell you that we are very much happy with Agboworin because we see him as a true leader. We are once more proud of all the numerous people-oriented projects Agboworin has facilitated.
“We keep praying that the Almighty Allah should continue to guide and protect him in his commitment to bringing meaningful development to this constituency,” a community leader said.
The project has collectively been hailed as a significant milestone in the constituency’s development as the streetlights would not only improve safety but also boost economic activities in the evening.
Residents echoed similar sentiments, expressing gratitude to Rep. Agboworin’s dedication to their welfare, saying “We are grateful for his efforts to make our community a better place.”
