The Lagelu Local Government Ex-Councillors Forum has strongly debunked a report suggesting that the group endorsed Hon. Akintunde Olajide Emmanuel (popularly known as AKT) for a third term and Hon. Kamorudeen Mudasir Morenikeji (Kamo) for a second term at their last monthly meeting.
In a rejoinder jointly issued for the forum by Hon. Dayo Busari of Ward 5, Hon Ola Ola of Ward 10, Hon Idowu of Ward 13 among other described the report as “false, unfounded, and a calculated attempt to drag the Forum into personal political ambitions.”
According to him, at no point during the monthly meeting was the issue of a third term for Hon. AKT raised, discussed, or adopted. “No motion, no debate, and certainly no resolution was taken in that regard,” Busari clarified.
“We have 14 wards and two-thirds are not in support of the endorsement as no third agenda is allowed in Lagelu Local Government.
Let’s unity and peace reign in the party and Lagelu”, Hon Busari stressed.
He retaliated that while the Forum appreciates the recognition and gestures of support extended by some individuals, such goodwill must not be misconstrued as political adoption or endorsement. “Goodwill does not equal adoption, and appreciation is not the same as endorsement,” he added.
The Lagelu Ex-Councillors further reaffirmed their commitment and loyalty to the leadership of Governor Seyi Makinde, whom they described as the father and leader of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Oyo State, and also the party.
“Our loyalty, commitment, and political alignment remain with His Excellency, Governor Seyi Makinde and People Democratic Party. He alone sets the direction for genuine party members, and we remain firmly behind his leadership,” the statement emphasized.
The Forum urged members of the public, party stakeholders, and leaders to disregard the report in circulation, assuring that the group remains united, disciplined, and focused on supporting the Makinde-led administration while safeguarding the integrity of the Forum.
