In a move to demonstrate the government’s commitment to youth development and rehabilitation, the Oyo State Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Honorable Wasilat Adegoke , visited the Agodi Correctional Centre in celebration of 2024 International Youth Week where she met with over 1400 young inmates.
During the visit, the Commissioner extended a gesture of support from Governor Seyi Makinde, aiming to inspire and empower the young persons to re-evaluate their lives and make positive changes. She emphasized the government’s dedication to providing opportunities for their rehabilitation and reintegration into society.
“We recognize that everyone deserves a second chance, and we are committed to providing the necessary support to help you become better citizens,” the Commissioner said. “Our visit today is a testament to Governor Makinde’s passion for youth development and his desire to see you succeed.”
The inmates expressed gratitude for the Commissioner’s visit and the government’s support, acknowledging the impact of the gesture on their morale and hope for a better future.
The Agodi Correctional Centre Deputy Controller, Mr. Odunlami welcomed the Commissioner , ministry officials and other youth stakeholders and appreciated the government’s efforts to improve the lives of the inmates. She emphasized the importance of such visits in boosting the inmates’ confidence and motivation to reform.
