Dr Nureni Aderemi Adeniran,Oyo State Inter Local Government Under 14 Competition came to a thrilling end today at Liberty Stadium with Ibadan South West Local Government emerging as the overall winner beating Ibadan North East Local Government with two goals to nil.
The competition, which featured teams from various local governments across the state, was organized by Dr. Nureni Aderemi Adeniran to promote grassroots football development and identify young talents as well find means to engage young minds.
IBSWLG’s Under 14 team displayed exceptional skill and determination throughout the tournament, defeating their opponents with impressive scores. In the final match played at the Liberty Stadium, IBSWLG faced off against Ibadan North East Local Government, winning the game with a convincing score of 2-0
Honourable Kehinde Akande, Chairman of IBSWLG, congratulated the team on their victory, praising their hard work and dedication.

Dr. Adeniran, the sponsor of the football competition expressed his pride in the football event, noting that during his tenure as Chairman of Ibadan South West Local Government from 1999 to 2003, he initiated a groundbreaking Under 17 football competition, aimed at engaging youths and curbing social vices. According to Dr. Adeniran, “The primary objective was to provide a platform for youths to showcase their talents, while also keeping them away from mischief and criminal activities.
He recalled that his Under 17 competition paved the way for subsequent sports development programs in Ibadan South West LG, inspiring a new generation of leaders to prioritize youth empowerment.
Honourable Kehinde Akande, Chairman of Ibadan South West Local Government, praised Dr. Nureni Adeniran’s visionary leadership in initiating the Under 14 football competition across the state. “To further cement this commitment, Honourable Akande made a solemn vow by pledging that Ibadan South West Local Government will establish its own football team before the end of the year, to compete in future tournaments and championships.”
Honourable Waheed Akintayo Ilumoka, member representing Oluyole in the Oyo State House of Assembly, also joined the chorus of praise for Dr. Nureni Aderemi Adeniran’s groundbreaking Under 14 football competition. “Dr. Adeniran’s innovative approach to youth development is a shining example of visionary leadership,” Honourable Ilumoka said. “This competition will have a profound impact on our community, nurturing young talents, promoting community engagement, fostering healthy competition, and empowering youths through sports.”

The thrilling Under 14 football competition
came to a close with a grand finale, featuring the presentation of various awards to outstanding teams and individuals.
The awards included:
– Best Behaved Team: Saki East Local Government Under 14 team
– Best Coach: IBSWLG Local Government Coach
– Best Goalkeeper: Ibadan North East goalkeeper
– Most Valuable Player (MVP): Abolade Ibrahim from IBSWLG
In addition to these prestigious awards, cash prizes were also awarded to:
– Fourth-place team
– Third-place team
– Second-place team
– Groundbreaking cash award to the winner of the competition
