Today, 21st October, 2024, Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State has witnessed the passing-out ceremony of fresh Amotekun Corps members in NYSC Camp, Iseyin, charging them to secure the state. This development is a significant boost to the regional security outfit, established in January 2020 by the six South-Western states to tackle insecurity.
These Corps are henceforth fully operational in the State to complement the activities of security agents in the task of reducing crimes in every nook and cranny of our dear State.
Amotekun Corps was not established to take over the functions of the Nigerian Police but rather they are employed to help the Police to gather information, engage in surveillance as well as help them to arrest suspects.
The security of lives and properties is not negotiable, thus the deployment of the intelligent indigenous Corps across zones and local governments will definitely enhance the safety of our people and communities.
