In a landmark development, Leaders of the various factional groups of Igbo leaders have committed to a peace process that will birth a Unified umbrella body of leadership for Ndi-Igbo resident in all parts of Oyo state.
The representatives of the various factional groups expressed this commitment today, during a stakeholders meeting organized by the Senior Special Assistant to Oyo state Governor Engr. Seyi Makinde on Community Relations (Igbo Community) Hon. Tallest Inoccent, held at the conference room of the Secretary to Oyo state Government, Agodi Secretariat, Ibadan.
While addressing the stakeholders, Hon. Tallest urged the various parties to sheath their swords as the decade-long disagreement between the parties have polarized the Igbo community in Oyo state. He urged them to look beyond their personal interests but the collective interest of the larger community. The Senior Special Assistant to the Governor regretted that the age long leadership tussle created a void that can only be filled with the sacrifice of personal ego, in the interest of the greater number.
To demonstrate their unwavering commitment to the peace and reconciliation process, the various factions agreed to set up a 21 man committee to oversee the process with each of the three factions nominating Five representatives while the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor heads nominates six other members from the representatives of the Igbo community resident in Other parts of the state, Ogbomoso, Saki, Iseyin, Oyo, Ibarapa and Okeho respectively.
In their separate submissions, the leaders of the various factions sued for peaceful and amicable resolution of the issue that has plagued the unity of Ndi-Igbo in Oyo state, pledging to pull their followers in the direction of peace.
Present in the Meeting were High Chief James Oramadike, High Chief Aloy Obi, Engr Ndubuisi Ezeokorie, Engr. Ndidi Nzeakor and selected representatives of their respective factions. During the meeting, a minute silence was observed in honor of the late President General of Ohanaeze Ndi-Igbo Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu and Late Chief Dr. Alex Anozie and all our fallen heroes.
In conclusion, Hon. Tallest thanked everybody present and promised to do his best in making sure that Igbos are one in no distance time with the help of all the stakeholders which assured him of their support.
