Often times when politicians organise empowerment programme, there is a set of people that are always left behind or least considered for the empowerment. Whereas, these are the real people that should be considered first because God created them in a special way.
Though physically they may not be able to do things the way we that consider ourselves being completely made, I can tell you they are always the best in whatever they choose as passion. By providing them with the support and resources they need, he is empowering them to reach their full potential and live fulfilling lives.
For a while now, the performance of Nigeria as a country is not encouraging in the Olympics games despite the high volume of money spent on the athletes, but when it is Paralympics games, Nigeria is among the best in the world due to the effort and dedication of these set of special people.
People only remember to associate with them only once or twice in a year, which is either the person’s birthday or during the festive period. In advanced countries, these special people are always getting special treatment as there are special provisions for them not to think of treating them as less human beings.
The event organized and sponsored by Rep. Abass Adigun Agboworin, which took place at the Local Government House, Agodi, Secretariat, on Tuesday, was a very rare one.
One of the few times an individual will choose to gather people with disabilities across the state and put smile on their face through empowerment. What made the event a special one was each beneficiaries got the exact thing that meet his/her needs.
The joy, the happiness, the smile and laughter that filled the atmosphere during the programme can never be quantified. The testimonies of the beneficiaries are evident to the great background job done by Agboworin and his Team.
In a society where people with disabilities are often overlooked and marginalized, Agboworin’s initiative to empowering them is a testament to his dedication to creating a better world for all. No doubt that the tools given to them would improve the quality of their lives and economic well-being.
I need to use this opportunity to implore everyone to always consider people with disabilities in everything we are doing, though the government of Engr Seyi Makinde has done a lot in respect to this. As individuals, we also have a major role to play.
As we reflect on the significance of Hon. Agboworin’s initiative, we are reminded that there is still much work to be done to promote inclusivity and empowerment for people with disabilities. We must all play our part in creating a society that values and respects the rights and dignity of all individuals, regardless of their abilities.
Once again, I appreciate Hon. Abass Adigun Agboworin for leading the new course in impacting the live of people with disabilities positively.
