Oloye Akika Honoured with Excellent Service Award for Outstanding Leadership

In a vibrant ceremony, Oloye Benedict Akika, the Mayegun of Akoboland and Agbaakin of Olorunda-Abaa has been honoured with the Excellent Service Award for his Outstanding Leadership and Commitment to Community Development by the Anuoluwa Shoe Maker Association headquarters, located at Oju-Irin, Akobo, Ibadan.

The award, presented by the Anuoluwa Shoe Maker Association, recognized Oloye Akika’s unwavering support and impactful leadership which have significantly uplifted the local shoemaking industry in Oyo State. Artisans, community leaders, and well-wishers gathered in celebration of a man many described as a “pillar of progress” within the grassroots economy.

In a reported gathered by 9ja News 24/7 at the event, the Chairman of the Association, Ismael Opeyemi commended Oloye Akika for his consistent engagement with craftsmen and his numerous empowerment initiatives. “Oloye Benedict Akika popularly called AgbaAkin has demonstrated exceptional leadership. His contributions have not only inspired many but have helped improve the livelihoods of our members,” he said.

In his acceptance speech, Oloye Benedict Akika who is the founder of Omituntun Benedict Foundation expressed gratitude for the recognition, stating, “I am deeply humbled by this honour. Supporting our people, especially the hardworking artisans and traders, is not just a duty, but a passion. I remain committed to doing more.”

The award ceremony also featured a showcase of locally made footwear, traditional performances, and goodwill messages from political and community figures across Ibadan and Oyo State.
