As Muslims around the world mark the sacred occasion of Eid-el-Kabir, Honourable Abayomi Fagbenro-Bibire has extended heartfelt greetings to the Muslim faithful in Ibadan Southwest/Northwest Federal Constituency, across Oyo State, and throughout Nigeria, urging reflection, prayer, and compassion.
In a press statement released Friday, Hon. Fagbenro congratulated Muslims on the opportunity to witness another Eid, describing the celebration as a symbol of unwavering faith, obedience to God, and sacrificial love. He called on the faithful to use the moment not only for festivity but also to renew their spiritual commitment and draw closer to their Creator.
“Eid-el-Kabir reminds us of the value of total submission to Allah, steadfast devotion, and the need to be light in our communities through kindness, peace, and good conduct,” he said.
While acknowledging the economic and security challenges confronting the country, Hon. Fagbenro encouraged Muslims to pray for Nigeria’s peace, unity, and progress. He expressed concern that many citizens are unable to celebrate due to poverty, insecurity, and other forms of hardship.
“It is painful that countless Nigerians are burdened by the harsh realities of life,” he noted. “But even in the midst of these difficulties, I know that millions will gather to pray and thank Allah. I urge everyone to remember the vulnerable, the displaced, and the afflicted.”
The retired U.S. Navy veteran also expressed gratitude to Nigeria’s security forces, praying for divine protection for those putting their lives on the line for the safety of the nation. He used the opportunity to commend Governor Seyi Makinde for fostering peace, unity, and interfaith harmony across Oyo State.
“Governor Makinde’s commitment to safeguarding lives and promoting peaceful coexistence has helped keep our communities stable. We appreciate his exemplary leadership,” he added.
Hon. Fagbenro also encouraged Muslims to uphold the Islamic values of charity, hospitality, and respect for people of different faiths, urging them to use the Sallah celebration as an opportunity to share with the less privileged and spread love.
He concluded by praying for divine blessings upon all Muslim families and communities, expressing his wishes for a joyful and peaceful celebration.
