Born in Kankia Local Government, Katsina State, Col, Prof, and Engr Imam is a beacon of excellence, inspiring his community and the younger generation through his leadership, discipline, and innovative contributions. His elevation to this prestigious rank underscores his significant impact on advancing engineering education and military innovation.

BRIEF PROFILE
Col Abubakar Surajo Imam is a distinguished officer and academic, currently serving as Head of the Department of Mechatronics Engineering and Director the Centre for Innovation and Creativity (CINOCRE) at the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA). A Fellow of the Army War College, Nigeria, he holds degrees in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, and a PhD in Mechatronics and Robotics from Newcastle University, UK.
Renowned for his groundbreaking RDI projects, including Combat Mobile Robot, Remotely Operated Weapon Station, Autonomous Electric Vehicle, Automated Artillery Weapon Systems, COVID-19, disinfection chambers, amongst others. Col Prof Imam has received the Nigerian Army Innovation Award twice (2022, 2023). He is a registered engineer with COREN, a member of MNSE, MNIM, and NFAI, and collaborates with institutions such as Defence Research and Development Bureau (DRDB), Defence Industries of Nigeria (DICON), Air Force Institute of Technology (AFIT), ABU and Aliko Dangote University, Wudil.

A proud husband to Maryam Munir and father of four, his achievements exemplify passion, innovation and excellence in service to Nigeria.
