Oyo PDP chieftain, Honourable Abayomi Fagbenro-Bibire who is the founder of Bibire People’s Vision Association (BPVA) and Hope Also Needs Help Foundation (HANHF), has congratulated all Nigerians, particularly the residents of Ibadan Southwest and Northwest Federal Constituency, for witnessing the dawn of the new year, 2025.
He also issued a clarion call to the three tiers of government to place premium priority on improving the economy for the benefit of the people.
Bibire made this public in a New Year statement he signed and made available to the media on Wednesday, January 1, 2025.
In his congratulatory message, he said, “On behalf of my family, myself, and the Bibire Peoples Vision Association, let me congratulate you on this joyous occasion. I pray that we all live to celebrate many more years in good health and happiness.”
He continued, “A strong economy is essential for achieving physical development and improving the standard of living of the people. Nigeria is blessed with the potential to build a robust economy capable of meeting the needs of its growing population. However, it is unfortunate that underdevelopment persists across the country.”
He further noted, “Most of the problems threatening the unity, progress, and peace of our country are rooted in the weak state of the economy. In 2025, there is an urgent need for both the government and Nigerians to work together to ensure the success of policies directed at rebuilding the economy, creating jobs, attracting investments, and cementing self-sufficiency.”
He added, “The government alone cannot make the economy work. It requires cooperation, prayers, and a change in attitude from the people to develop the country and make 2025 a more fruitful and beneficial year for all citizens.”
Reflecting on the challenges of the previous year, he remarked: “The end of one year and the beginning of another is always a time of hope. While 2024 was challenging for many Nigerians, we must look ahead to 2025 with the assurance that better days are ahead.”
He, however, encouraged Nigerians to confront ongoing challenges with courage and determination, stating, “Although we still have much to do to achieve our desired goals, we must rise with resolve to make things better.”
Commending the resilience of Nigerians amidst national challenges, he noted that every citizen deserves a better quality of life and pledged to continue supporting Governor Seyi Makinde’s administration in its efforts to improve the lives of Oyo State residents.
“All of us deserve a chance to live a better life. This is why I will continue to do my part to ensure the success of the policies and programs of Governor Seyi Makinde’s administration, designed to make life more meaningful for the people of Oyo State,” he said.
He therefore appealed to the heads of government at the federal, state, and local government levels to continue focusing on implementing pro-people policies that would serve as catalysts for economic stability and growth.
He said, “In view of this, I urge the president, governors, and local government chairmen to spare no effort in formulating more pro-people policies that will serve as catalysts for economic stability and growth.”
Bibire also called on federal and state lawmakers to prioritize motions and bills that drive business growth, job creation, and increased disposable income for Nigerians.
“To our lawmakers, both at the federal, state, and local government levels, I charge you to continue moving motions and sponsoring bills that will help businesses thrive, create jobs, and improve the financial well-being of the people,” he stated.
Meanwhile, the retired US Navy veteran appealed to the good people of Oyo State to continue throwing their essential weight behind Governor Seyi Makinde in sustaining his unbeatable achievements, which have positioned Oyo State as a leader among Nigerian states.
He concluded by expressing condolences to the victims of the Ibadan stampede which occurred before Christmas, but thanked Governor Makinde and security agencies for their efforts in addressing the incident and closing that tragic chapter in the state’s history.
“Let me conclude by sympathizing with all the victims of the Ibadan stampede which unfortunately dawned before the Christmas celebration. However, I am greatly encouraged by the determination displayed by Governor Makinde and security agencies in addressing the incident and ensuring closure to that tragic chapter in our state’s history.”
