Navigating Emerging Issues On Delivering The Roadmap for Sustainable Development In Oyo State. Organized by the Office of the Special Assistant to The Executive Governor of Oyo State on Political matters
Tallest joined the global community in an intellectual Summit on emerging sectoral issues impacting the Roadmap for Sustainable Development In Oyo State with a call to prioritize standardization and innovation to drive sustainable development. The theme: The Center Stage,” focused on Sustainable Development, highlighting infrastructure, industrialization, and innovation.
Senior Special Assistant to The Executive Governor of Oyo State, Engr Seyi Makinde on Community Relations, Hon. Tallest Innocent stressed the importance of international standards in fostering innovation, building resilient infrastructure, and promoting inclusive and sustainable industrialization, aligning with international developmental standard.
Speaking with the News men immediately after the Summit, said “Standards are a backbone of any developmental infrastructure, ensuring we meet the highest levels of quality, safety and efficiency, especially now that things are very hard is a priority for all of us. As we strive for a better Oyo State, a better Nigeria, a better Africa and a better world, we recognize the critical role the government is playing in order to achieve the Oyo State 2040 Sustainable Development Goals,” Tallest said.
Tallest also highlighted His Excellency, Engr. Seyi Makinde’s commitment to curbing insecurity, counterfeit and substandard products by strengthening Oyo State quality infrastructure. “By adhering to international standards, building a resilient, inclusive and sustainable industrial sector, roads that drives economic growth and improves the quality of life for all our citizens,”.
The over all aspiration and agenda or let me say “target” of this administration is to transform Oyo State into a top economy hub in Nigeria and it has already started reflecting in the State where government listens and works for the good of the people even to their door steps and quit above 335.77 kilometers roads spread across all zones in the State have been completed and commissioned in just five years, making it more than all the roads constructed by all the former governors of Oyo State put together between 1999 & 2019, Tallest said.
For the avoidance of doubt, all HE’s developmental strides most especially the road network is the easiest route to economic growth because it attracts new capital, drives down the cost of production, pushes up outputs, enhances productivity, and connects the hinterlands to the major economic centers. It is also a vehicle for social development, for it links people and places. Reducing the space between people and places, road infrastructure plays a catalytic role in healthcare delivery, the education system and the provision of other social services. This also ensure the reduction or of increased traffic or so to say traffic congestion and risk road accidents and injuries, Tallest explained.
“However, I believed by now, that everyone who has read the Oyo State Roadmap for Sustainable Development 2023–2027 had identified what role to play to support the present administration led by Gov. Seyi Makinde to ensure that the good work will not be put to a stop or there by slowing the rate of which development ought to continue”, Tallest apple.
