The People’s Democratic Party has announced the appointment of former House of Representatives member, Honorable Abiodun Awoleye as the Caretaker Committee Chairman of the party in Ogun state.
This was contained in a letter signed by the National Organizing Secretary of PDP, Hon. Umar Bature and obtained by westernmirror.com.ng on Monday, August 6.
According to the national headquarters of PDP, Awoleye’s appointment and 12 other members of the Committee takes effect from July 28, 2024.
The party noted that the composition of Awoleye led Ogun state caretaker committee was in line with Section 21(2) (a-b) of the party’s Constitution.
The PDP equally announced the appointment of Barrister Paul Oladipo Ogunnubi as the Secretary of the Caretaker Committee.
Other members of the Committee include Alhaji Semiu Sodipo, Hon. Taiwo Akinfenwa, Mr. Afolabi Orekoya, Otunba Remi Odubote, Hon. Boye Adesina, Alhaja Jemilat Alagbe, Hon. Dimeji Fabiyi, Hon. Kayode Olurin, Hon. Seun Salisu, Otunba Sarafadeen Abiodun Awotunde, and Chief Dapo Ayodele.
The party stated that the new caretaker committee is to effectively run the affairs of PDP in Ogun state within a period not exceeding 90 days (three months) or until a new executive is elected.
“Accordingly, your assignment takes effect from July 28, 2024 and your Committee is charged with the responsibility of running the affairs of the Party in Ogun State, as stipulated in Section 21(2) (a-b) of our Party Constitution for a period not exceeding 90 days (3-months); or till a new Executive Committee is elected.
“In carrying out this assignment, you are to be guided strictly by the PDP Constitution (2017 as amended), the Electoral Act 2022 and the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999, as amended.
“It is expetted that your exemplary conduct and strict adherence to rules and regulations during your assignment will justify the confidence reposed in you by the leadership of the Party.” The party stated.
Hon. Awoleye was a former member of Oyo state House of Assembly, former member, Federal House of Representatives, former Special Adviser on Primary Healthcare to Governor Seyi Makinde, and currently the Chairman, Oyo State Primary Healthcare Board.
