The Oyo State Government, represented by the Honourable Commissioner for Lands, Housing, and Urban Development, Mr. Williams Akin-Funmilayo, met with investors from across Oyo State in Ibadan. These investors specialize in Agro-allied production, manufacturing, assembling of equipment, poultry, hatchery, agro commodities, and other industrial machineries in Ibadan on Monday, August 5, 2024.
The meeting aimed to promote investment in agriculture, enhance food production, and create employment opportunities in Oyo State. Mr. Akin-Funmilayo emphasized the importance of inclusive growth and sustainable development in the agricultural sector, aligning with Governor Seyi Makinde’s vision.
The Commissioner made it known that this is the 4th exercise in the year 2024, he therefore highlighted the administration’s commitment to supporting agro investors with suitable land, infrastructure, Conducive atmosphere and resources to boost food production and processing. He urged investors to demonstrate their financial viability, expertise, and commitment to agricultural development.
He further charged them to ensure the lands are used for what it meant to be as close monitoring and oversight job will be in place and must ensure that they do not abandon the site hence the requirements to know their financial capacity and adequate personnel working with them.
This initiative is expected to increase food production, create jobs, and stimulate economic growth in Oyo State. He admonished them to be more focused on other zones like Oke Ogun the food basket of Oyo State, Ibarapa with good road network as well as Ogbomosho/Oyo/Iseyin so as to open up more industrial hub and other benefits for the good people of Oyo State.
The government promised transparency in selecting competent, viable investors, ensuring a fair play and merit-based process. To all other interested investors across the globe, in oyo state , we have enough lands for Agricultural and industrialization purposes that will contribute to the food production and employment opportunities especially for our Youth, with this we welcome more of any investors in that category to visit Oyo State, the pacesetter State he said.
In conclusion, Mr. Akin-Funmilayo assured agro, industrial investors of distinctive collaboration pending approval from Governor Makinde, emphasizing the government’s readiness to partner, make available all necessary supports for Sustainable Agricultural Development and Food Production in Oyo State.
