The Allied Peoples’ Movement (APM) candidate for Ido/Ibarapa East Federal Constituency, Engr. Kolawole Sheu Adedeji (KSA), has intensified his grassroots mobilisation ahead of the 2027 general elections with a community-to-community campaign tour across parts of Ido Local Government Area of Oyo State.

The campaign tour covered Ward 4 and Ward 9, including Aba Inuewe, Arasan Bako, Lade Abanla and Eleso communities, where the candidate and other party stakeholders engaged residents on community development, infrastructure, youth concerns and effective political representation.

The tour attracted APM candidates, party leaders, ward and local government executives, community stakeholders, party members and supporters, providing a platform for direct interaction between the candidate and the people.

The engagements were aimed at bringing the campaign closer to residents, enabling community members to communicate their needs and share their expectations of elected representatives ahead of the 2027 polls.

One of the key issues raised during the visit to Eleso was the need for improved electricity supply, with the community’s chairman, Chief Adeola Isaac Olufemi Abe, pledging support for the provision of a transformer to address the community’s power needs.

The discussion highlighted the importance of reliable electricity to residents, small-scale businesses and other economic activities within the community.

Community leaders and stakeholders who participated in the engagement included the Baale of Eleso Community, Pastor Adesokan Samson; Chief Olubi Coker; Chief Akindele; Chief Balogun Oshibajo; Imam Eniafe Lamo; Gbolagade Raimi; Mr. Muhammad; Mr. Mukaila; Mrs. Olukitibi; as well as landlords, residents and other community representatives.

The interaction provided an opportunity for residents to draw attention to their developmental priorities and discuss possible interventions to improve living conditions.

The campaign tour also featured an interactive session in Aba Inuewe Community, Bako, where a youth representative addressed issues concerning political representation, community development and the expectations of young people from elected officials.

The engagement offered young residents an opportunity to express their views on the future of their community and the need for responsive leadership that takes grassroots concerns into consideration.

KSA’s community-based campaign approach seeks to create opportunities for residents, particularly young people, to participate in discussions about the constituency’s development and the responsibilities of those seeking public office.

The direct engagements also underscored the importance of listening to community members and understanding their distinct needs in shaping development priorities.

The campaign tour also featured the participation of Alhaji Adelakun, who recently defected from the African Democratic Congress (ADC) to the Allied Peoples’ Movement.

Adelakun spoke during KSA’s engagement with the Adeosun/Idi-Orogbo Community Development Association, where discussions centred on political participation, grassroots mobilisation and community development.

His defection adds to the political developments surrounding the APM’s mobilisation efforts in the constituency as parties and candidates continue to position themselves ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The engagement with the community development association further provided a platform for interaction between the candidate, party stakeholders and residents on issues affecting their communities.

The tour forms part of KSA’s broader efforts to strengthen his relationship with residents across the Ido/Ibarapa East Federal Constituency through direct engagement with traditional and community leaders, youths, landlords, religious representatives and other stakeholders.

By taking his campaign to individual communities, the APM candidate is seeking to understand local challenges, identify residents’ priorities and encourage greater participation in conversations about the constituency’s future.

The visits to Aba Inuewe, Arasan Bako, Lade Abanla and Eleso highlighted issues ranging from electricity supply and infrastructure to youth participation and the quality of political representation.

As political activities ahead of the 2027 general elections continue to gather momentum, the community-to-community tour represents an effort by KSA and the APM to consolidate grassroots support while maintaining direct contact with the people they seek to represent.

The engagements also reinforce the significance of community-level consultations in electoral campaigns, particularly in ensuring that the concerns of residents are recognised in conversations about development and public representation.
