As the world marks Teachers’ Day, the All Progressives Movement (APM) governorship candidate in Lagos State, Prince Laja Adeoye, MPD, has celebrated teachers for their invaluable contributions to education and society. Adeoye described teachers as nation-builders who shape minds, build confidence, inspire dreams and play a critical role in preparing young people for the future.

In a goodwill message to mark the occasion, Adeoye commended teachers for their patience, dedication, encouragement and commitment to helping students grow academically and personally. He noted that the influence of a good teacher extends far beyond the classroom, stressing that the lessons, discipline and kindness imparted by teachers often remain with students throughout their lives.

Adeoye said teachers deserve not only words of appreciation but also tangible rewards and improved living conditions for the important work they do. He observed that while it is often jokingly said that the reward of teachers is in heaven, the welfare and dignity of teachers should be addressed here on earth, through better remuneration, improved working conditions and meaningful social support.

The APM candidate further pledged that, if elected Governor of Lagos State in 2027, his administration would prioritise teachers’ welfare by ensuring that they are well paid and given access to essential social services, including housing support, vehicles and scholarship opportunities for their children. According to him, improving the welfare of teachers is an investment in the quality of education and the future of Lagos State.

“Today, I join millions across the world to celebrate you, as you deserve to be celebrated every day for the impact you are making in our society,” Adeoye said, expressing appreciation to every teacher who has helped a student believe in themselves. He wished teachers greater respect, support, fulfilment and recognition, while reaffirming his commitment to making their welfare a priority under an APM-led government in Lagos State.
