The Hausa community in Olorunda-Abaa, Lagelu Local Government Area of Oyo State, has pledged its support for the Allied Peoples’ Movement (APM) and its candidates ahead of the forthcoming elections.

The community made the declaration when its representatives paid a courtesy visit to the Founder of Omituntun Benedict Forum/Foundation (OBF), Oloye Benedict Akika, JP. The delegation was led by the Seriki Hausa of Olorunda-Abaa, Alhaji Salisu Sani, and included the Hausa Youth Leader, Ias Yusuf, and the community’s Secretary, Jonah Godiya.

The visitors attributed their decision to their assessment of the administration of Governor Seyi Makinde, particularly what they described as good governance and the peaceful coexistence among people of different ethnic backgrounds across Oyo State.

Responding, Oloye Benedict Akika appreciated the Hausa community for the visit and their expression of support for the APM and its candidates. He commended the community for what he described as sincerity of purpose, stressing that the peaceful relationship among the various ethnic groups in Oyo State remained an important feature of the state.
Akika said the dividends of democracy should be accessible to all residents irrespective of ethnic or tribal background. He expressed confidence that the developmental efforts witnessed in Oyo State would continue and extend to more people.
According to him, the election of Governor Seyi Makinde as President of Nigeria would provide an opportunity for Nigerians across ethnic and tribal lines to benefit from what he described as people-oriented governance, adding that “things shall be pleasant” for Nigerians under such leadership.
