…Commission’s Form EC9 Listing Puts Fresh Spotlight on ADC Ticket Dispute

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has displayed the name of Olooye Adegboyega Taofeek Adegoke as the governorship candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Oyo State ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The development, which occurred in line with the commission’s electoral timetable, is expected to further clarify the lingering controversy surrounding the ADC governorship ticket in the state.

Adegoke’s name was displayed alongside those of governorship candidates submitted by other political parties participating in the 2027 governorship elections.

According to the information circulated by Adegoke’s campaign team, the development followed the completion of the required nomination processes and the submission of the relevant Form EC9 to INEC.

The campaign team maintained that there had never been any doubt regarding Adegoke’s candidacy, insisting that he emerged from the ADC governorship primary conducted under the supervision of INEC.

Reacting to the development, the media team said the commission’s display of Adegoke’s name should put to rest claims by another aspirant that he was the authentic ADC governorship candidate in Oyo State.

“We know our principal, Olooye Adegoke, went through the governorship primaries of the ADC which was duly supervised by INEC and came top to emerge as the Oyo State Governorship Candidate of the party,” the team said.

The campaign organisation consequently appealed to other aspirants and their supporters to desist from what it described as further misrepresentation and respect the position of the party and the electoral commission.

The team also reaffirmed its commitment to the ADC’s political agenda, describing Adegoke as a tested leader with the vision, experience and capacity to provide what it termed effective leadership and good governance in Oyo State.

It urged ADC members, supporters and residents of the state to remain calm, united and focused as the party begins preparations and mobilisation towards the 2027 elections.

The latest development comes against the backdrop of internal disagreements over the ADC governorship ticket, with competing claims previously emerging over who should represent the party in the Oyo State governorship contest.

With INEC’s publication of the candidate list, attention is now expected to shift to the next phase of the electoral process as political parties intensify their preparations for the 2027 elections.
