A grassroots political mobilisation platform, the Sharafite Movement (SM), has been launched in Oyo State to galvanise support for the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate, Senator Sharafadeen Abiodun Alli, and the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 general elections.
The movement, which said it has structures spanning the 33 local government areas and 351 political wards of the state, announced that its primary objective is to mobilise voters for the victory of the APC at all levels during the 2027 polls.
According to a statement signed by the State Public Relations Officer of the movement, Alhaji Idris Ismail (Ajeja), the organisation will also campaign vigorously for all APC candidates contesting senatorial, House of Representatives and Oyo State House of Assembly seats.
The statement disclosed that the movement will be led by Hon. Yomi Olajide, popularly known as Royal Umbrella, who was named the State Coordinator.
Other members of the state executive include Comrade Muideen Adebiyi as Secretary, Alhaji Idris Ismail (Ajeja) as Public Relations Officer, Florence Yetunde Olubiyi as Director of Women, Hon. Abolade Olosun as Organising Secretary, Olawoyin Edris as Director of Prints, Olasunkanmi Sijuade as Director of Volunteers, and Kunle Adeleke as Director of Mobilisation.
The movement also announced the appointment of diaspora coordinators, naming Olalekan Gbenro as the United States Sharafite Coordinator, while Otunba Temitope Olumide Adeboye (MIDEX) will coordinate activities in the United Kingdom.
The leadership of the Sharafite Movement expressed confidence that its extensive grassroots network would strengthen the APC’s campaign ahead of the 2027 elections, describing the initiative as a strategic platform for voter mobilisation and political engagement across Oyo State.
The group called on party faithful, supporters and residents of the state to join the movement in its efforts to deliver electoral victories for Senator Sharafadeen Abiodun Alli, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and other APC candidates in the forthcoming general elections.
