Seyi Makinde, and Nigeria’s security agencies for the successful rescue of pupils and teachers abducted from schools in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State after 56 days in captivity.

In a statement issued on Friday, Princess Nurudeen described the victims’ safe return as a moment of great relief for their families, the people of Oyo State and the nation, saying the outcome reflects the effectiveness of coordinated security operations and intergovernmental collaboration. The governor had earlier publicly thanked President Tinubu and security agencies for “pushing really hard” to secure the release of the abductees without paying ransom.

She applauded President Tinubu for providing strong leadership and unwavering support to the rescue mission, while praising Governor Makinde for his resilience, commitment and consistent engagement throughout the period of the victims’ captivity.

Princess Nurudeen also lauded the Armed Forces, the Department of State Services (DSS), the Nigeria Police Force and other security agencies for their professionalism, bravery and sacrifice, noting that their efforts restored hope to the affected families and reinforced public confidence in the nation’s security architecture.

“The safe rescue of these innocent children and their teachers is a victory for humanity. It demonstrates what can be achieved when governments at all levels work together with our security agencies in the interest of the people,” she stated.

While celebrating the successful operation, the market leader expressed sympathy to the family of the late teacher who lost his life during the abduction, praying that God grants them the fortitude to bear the painful loss.

She urged the Federal and Oyo State Governments to sustain ongoing efforts aimed at strengthening security around schools, markets and rural communities, stressing that protecting lives and property must remain a collective responsibility.

Princess Nurudeen further called on Nigerians to continue supporting security agencies with credible intelligence and to remain united against criminality, expressing optimism that sustained cooperation would help ensure lasting peace and security across the country. President Tinubu also praised the security forces and commended the Oyo State Government’s cooperation in the rescue effort.
