The Beacon of Grace Foundation has welcomed the safe rescue of the pupils and teachers abducted from schools in Yawota and Ahoro-Esinele communities of Oriire Local Government Area, describing their release as a moment of relief and thanksgiving for Oyo State and the entire nation.
In a press statement issued on Friday, the Foundation said the return of the victims after nearly two months in captivity had brought hope to their families, who had endured weeks of uncertainty and emotional distress since the abduction on May 15, 2026.
The Foundation expressed gratitude to God for preserving the lives of the victims and commended Governor Seyi Makinde for his steadfast leadership throughout the rescue efforts.
According to the statement, the governor demonstrated exemplary leadership by keeping residents informed through regular updates, visiting the affected communities, and personally engaging with the families of the abductees. It noted that his transparent communication helped prevent the spread of rumours and misinformation that could have undermined the rescue operation.
The Foundation also praised Governor Makinde’s refusal to yield to pressure from the kidnappers, noting that both the Oyo State Government and the Federal Government consistently maintained that no ransom was paid to secure the release of the victims.
It described the decision as a courageous stand against criminality, saying it sends a strong message that Oyo State will not reward acts of terrorism or kidnapping.
Beacon of Grace Foundation further commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for providing federal support to the operation and applauded the dedication of the Nigerian Army, Department of State Services (DSS), Nigeria Police Force, Oyo State Amotekun Corps, local hunters, and other security operatives who risked their lives to ensure the safe return of the victims.
The Foundation said the successful operation demonstrated that effective collaboration, resilience, and strategic coordination among security agencies can deliver positive outcomes without encouraging criminal enterprises.
While celebrating the rescue, the Foundation paid tribute to the teacher and other victims who lost their lives during the tragic incident, extending heartfelt condolences to their families.
It also urged governments at all levels to intensify efforts toward securing schools and vulnerable rural communities, stressing that every child deserves to learn in a safe and secure environment.
The statement concluded by reaffirming the Foundation’s commitment to supporting initiatives that promote peace, education, and community safety across Oyo State.
