AGBO DYNASTY SET FOR GRAND OJUDE OLA AGBO DAY 2026 AND CHIEFTAINCY CEREMONY IN IBADAN

The ancient and respected Agbo Dynasty of Ibadanland is preparing for a colorful and historic celebration as the annual Ojude Ola Agbo Day 2026 and chieftaincy ceremony comes up on Friday, 29th May 2026, at Bada Agbo, opposite Kolapo Ishola Estate, beside General Gas, Ibadan.

The cultural event, which has become one of the most anticipated gatherings in the community, will bring together sons and daughters of Agbo Dynasty from home and abroad, traditional rulers, community leaders, dignitaries, cultural lovers, and invited guests to celebrate heritage, unity, and the rich history of the Agbo family.

One of the major highlights of this year’s edition is the conferment of chieftaincy titles on deserving personalities who have contributed immensely to the growth and development of the Agbo community and Ibadanland at large.

The event will also feature cultural displays, traditional music, prayers, entertainment, and the presentation of the true-life documentary of the legendary warrior, Olalere Ajao Agbo Yakayuku.

BRIEF STORY OF OLALERE AJAO AGBO YAKAYUKU

According to family history and oral tradition, Olalere Ajao Agbo Yakayuku was a brave and fearless warrior from the Agbo lineage whose courage, wisdom, and leadership played significant roles in the protection and advancement of his people during ancient times.

He was widely respected for his strength, honesty, and commitment to the peace and progress of the community. His legacy continues to inspire generations of the Agbo Dynasty, which is why his story remains an important part of the annual Ojude Ola celebration.

The annual festival is organized to preserve the cultural heritage of the Agbo people, promote unity among family members, and educate younger generations about the sacrifices and achievements of their forefathers. The celebration also serves as an avenue for development discussions and community progress.

Speaking ahead of the event, the Mogaji of Agbo Dynasty, Chief Tahiru Kolawole Oladipupo, stated that the annual gathering is not just a celebration but a reminder of the family’s deep history, tradition, and collective responsibility toward community development.

The Mogaji emphasized that the dynasty remains committed to preserving Yoruba cultural values and ensuring that the history of their ancestors is never forgotten.

Also speaking about the occasion, the Baale of Agbo Dynasty, Chief Dhikirullahi Olagoke Olaonipekun, described the festival as a symbol of peace, love, unity, and cultural pride among the people of Agbo land.

According to him, the yearly event has continued to strengthen the bond among family members and has also contributed to the recognition of Agbo Dynasty within and outside Ibadanland.

The Planning Committee Chairman for Ojude Ola Agbo Day 2026, Asiwaju Yemi Yusuff, assured all invited guests, dignitaries, sons and daughters of Agbo Dynasty, and well-wishers that adequate preparations have been put in place to host everybody successfully during the event.

Asiwaju Yemi Yusuff further stated that all committees are working tirelessly to ensure a peaceful, successful, and memorable celebration for all attendees.

He also used the opportunity to appreciate the Mogaji of Agbo Dynasty, Chief Tahiru Kolawole Oladipupo, and the Baale of Agbo Dynasty, Chief Dhikirullahi Olagoke Olaonipekun, for their leadership, encouragement, and support toward the success of the program.

He equally thanked all sons and daughters of Agbo Dynasty at home and abroad for their continuous support, contributions, commitment, and prayers toward the growth and development of the dynasty and the success of Ojude Ola Agbo Day 2026.

The 2026 edition of Ojude Ola Agbo Day is expected to attract a large turnout as preparations have been concluded for a successful and memorable celebration.
