House of Representatives aspirant Mayegun Sunday Olusegun Babanumi has explained that his decision to step aside from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) process was not personal, but a collective move aimed at securing a better life and recognition for his constituents in Ibadan North West and Ibadan South West Federal Constituency.

“My stepping aside is a collective decision that aims to position my constituents for an improved life and recognition,” Babanumi stated on Thursday.

28 YEARS OF LOYALTY, NO RECOGNITION
The aspirant lamented what he described as years of neglect despite unwavering commitment to the PDP.

“Twenty-eight years of undivided loyalty to PDP without deserved recognition is a testament to deliberate neglect and insensitivity to my supporters’ plight,” he said.
He noted that the sacrifices of grassroots mobilizers and loyal party faithfuls had been consistently overlooked in the party’s internal arrangements.

PRINCIPLE OVER PERSONAL AMBITION
Babanumi stressed that he would not pursue personal ambition at the expense of the people who have stood by him.

“I will not trade my personal ambition to the detriment of my supporters’ discomfort. Leadership is about sacrifice, not self-service,” he declared.

AGAINST IMPOSITION AND INJUSTICE
He condemned the absence of internal democracy within the party structure, describing it as a form of imposition.

“Absence of equity, fairness, and justice is an act of imposition and dictatorial,” Babanumi said, adding that genuine representation must reflect the will of the people, not the interest of a few.

FOLLOWING WHERE THE PEOPLE ARE ACCEPTED
Reaffirming his commitment to the people over the platform, he said:
“Where my people find acceptance is where I will perch. My loyalty is first to the constituents who believe in this cause.”

SERVICE REQUIRES SACRIFICE
Concluding, Babanumi maintained that his leadership style has always been rooted in sacrifice and service.
“Service to humanity without sacrifice is not in my style as a leader. Whatever the path, it must lead to dignity, opportunity, and recognition for Ibadan North West and Ibadan South West,” he said.
