Hon Innocent Tallest, The Senior Special Assistant to The Executive Governor of Oyo State, Engr. Seyi Makinde on Community Relation, has urged the people of the state to emulate the virtues of self-sacrifice and love as exemplified by Christ.
Tallest also urged them to hold fast to their faith in the midst of the present socio-economic challenges, praying that they would eventually become a thing of the past.
He stated this on Saturday in his Easter message to the people of Oyo State and Nigerians in general.
He underscored the importance of reflecting on the profound teachings of Christ, which emphasise love, sacrifice, empathy, and compassion, particularly during these challenging times.
“Easter embodies the core of our Christian faith, as it commemorates Jesus Christ’s ultimate sacrifice. I encourage Nigerians to remain steadfast in their devotion to God despite the challenges our nation faces.
Just as Jesus persevered through tribulations, let us, as Christians, strive to emulate his humility, love, selflessness, and sacrificial spirit,” he said.
Tallest enjoined Christians to draw inspiration from the Easter season to foster unity, understanding, and goodwill amongst people of all faiths.
He urged everyone to renew their commitment to promoting peace and harmony in their communities.
“I join Ndi Igbo, Oyo State and Nigerians in celebrating the resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ. His death and resurrection embody self-sacrifice, forgiveness, infinite love, and victory over every challenge, all of which our state and nation need at a time like this
Therefore, as we mark Easter, I urge us to be our brother’s keeper and extend a hand of fellowship to those that offended us.
I equally enjoin us to remain unwavering in our service to our dear state and faith in the fatherland, rest assured that we shall overcome the present socio-economic challenges and the good times will ultimately return,” he stated.
Tallest wished the Igbos, people of Oyo State and Nigerians a happy Easter celebration.
