Ward Youth Leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) across the 351 wards in Oyo State have expressed appreciation to Governor Seyi Makinde for the recent distribution of electric bikes to serving and former ward chairmen of the party across the state.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, the youth leaders described the gesture as a strategic move that would strengthen grassroots mobilization and enhance party activities in communities, villages, and polling units.

They commended the governor, whom they described as their leader and political compass, for recognizing the efforts of party officials at the grassroots level.

According to the statement, the electric bikes would improve the mobility of ward chairmen and enable them to effectively promote the achievements of the Makinde administration as well as the Ibadan Declaration 2026 agenda.

The youth leaders also used the opportunity to appeal to the governor for greater inclusion and empowerment of ward youth leaders, noting that they remain the “foot soldiers” of the party across the state.

They said despite operating under challenging conditions, many youth leaders have continued to mobilize support for the party since 2019 without allowances or mobility support.

“We are young, energetic, and ready to do more for the party and for Governor Makinde’s vision. We are not complaining; we are appealing,” the statement read.

The group added that empowering youth leaders with mobility tools and resources would further strengthen grassroots engagement ahead of future political activities.

They praised Governor Makinde for being attentive to the needs of young party members and urged him to “complete the joy of Oyo youths” through additional empowerment initiatives.

The statement was jointly signed by Ward Youth Leaders from the 351 wards of Oyo State under the PDP umbrella.
