2027: Babanumi Declares Intent To Represent Ibadan NorthWest/SouthWest Federal Constituency, Unveils 7-Point Development Agenda

An aspirant for the House of Representatives under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Otunba (Mayegun) Sunday Olusegun Babanumi, has formally declared his intention to contest for the Ibadan North West and Ibadan South West Federal Constituency seat at the House of Representatives, pledging purposeful representation and people-centered development.

In a statement announcing his declaration of intent, Babanumi reaffirmed his commitment to the welfare and progress of the people of the constituency, noting that his aspiration is driven by a genuine desire to provide responsive leadership and effective representation at the National Assembly.

“I, Mayegun Sunday Olusegun Babanumi, stand before you today to reaffirm my commitment to the people of Ibadan North West and Ibadan South West Federal Constituency of Oyo State. With your support and endorsement, we will build a brighter future together, focused on progress, unity, and prosperity for all our constituents,” he stated.

According to him, his candidacy for the Federal House of Representatives will prioritize transparency, accountability, and inclusiveness, assuring residents that his leadership will deliver tangible benefits and opportunities across the constituency.

Babanumi also emphasized that his vision aligns with the developmental strides of the Governor of Oyo State, Seyi Makinde, pledging to support and complement the governor’s policies and programmes aimed at sustaining growth and development across the state.

“With your support, we will create a thriving environment in Ibadan North West and Ibadan South West where everyone can succeed. My representation will also focus on consolidating and continuing the good governance and people-oriented policies of Governor Seyi Makinde for the benefit of our people,” he added.

As part of his declaration, Babanumi unveiled a 7-Point Agenda designed to drive development and prosperity in the constituency:

  1. Access to Clean Water: Implementation of water purification systems, drilling of boreholes, and construction of community wells.
  2. Education and Skills Development: Establishment of vocational training centres, literacy programmes, and support for local schools.
  3. Healthcare Improvement: Upgrading healthcare facilities and providing essential medical equipment by leveraging his professional network and experience to strengthen the health system.
  4. Renewable Energy: Installation of solar panels and promotion of biogas systems for households and businesses.
  5. Infrastructure Development: Collaboration with government and stakeholders to repair roads, bridges, and community centres.
  6. Economic Empowerment: Establishment of cooperatives, microfinance support systems, and promotion of entrepreneurship.
  7. Job Creation and Skills Development: Creating opportunities and enhancing skills for youth and women across the constituency.

Describing the agenda as practical and people-focused, Babanumi noted that the programmes are designed to address critical needs, stimulate economic growth, and foster sustainable social development.

“This agenda addresses the basic needs of our people, drives economic growth, and fosters social development. As a product of these communities, I understand their challenges and aspirations, and I am committed to serving them diligently,” he said.

He further appealed to residents and stakeholders across all communities within the constituency to support and endorse his candidacy, promising fair and inclusive representation regardless of tribe, religion, or background.

“Your support and endorsement of my candidacy will be to the benefit of all, irrespective of tribes and tongues in Ibadan North West and Ibadan South West Federal Constituency of Oyo State. I stand ready to serve and to give genuine representation to the desires and aspirations of our people,” Babanumi concluded.
