The Vice Chairman of Ido Local Government Area, Hon. (Barr) Olayemi Ajibola Oluwasina has officially unveiled his manifesto as he declared his ambition to contest for the chairmanship position in the 2027 local government election.
Oluwasina, who currently serves as the Vice Chairman of the council, said his decision to seek the mandate of the people is driven by a deep commitment to grassroots development, accountability, and improved governance across the local government.
In the manifesto titled “A New Era of Responsible Leadership and Grassroots Development,” the chairmanship aspirant emphasized his vision to transform Ido Local Government Area into a model council in Oyo State where infrastructure, economic opportunities, quality education, accessible healthcare, and transparent governance would positively impact residents across all communities.
According to Oluwasina, his mission is to promote people-centered governance, empower youth and women, strengthen grassroots institutions, and ensure sustainable development across the wards in the local government.
Highlighting his development agenda, the aspirant listed infrastructure development as a key priority. He promised to focus on the rehabilitation and construction of rural roads to connect farming communities to markets, improve drainage systems to curb flooding, provide potable water through boreholes and wells, and install solar-powered streetlights to enhance security and economic activities at night.
He also pledged to collaborate closely with the government of Seyi Makinde to attract more infrastructure projects to the local government.
On agriculture and rural development, Oluwasina noted that farming remains the major source of livelihood for many residents. He therefore promised to support farmers through access to fertilizers, seedlings, modern farming techniques, and extension services. He further proposed the establishment of farmers’ cooperative support programmes, development of produce markets, and partnerships with private investors for agro-processing opportunities, including the establishment of model farms.
The chairmanship hopeful also emphasized youth empowerment and employment as a major pillar of his agenda. He promised to introduce vocational training and skill acquisition programmes, youth entrepreneurship initiatives, and ICT and digital skills training aimed at equipping young people with relevant opportunities. Sports development programmes, he added, would also be encouraged to help discover talents and reduce social vices.
Speaking on women empowerment, Oluwasina pledged to support women-led businesses through cooperative financing, provide skill acquisition opportunities, and promote greater participation of women in local governance and decision-making.
In the education sector, he promised to support the renovation of public primary schools, provide learning resources for teachers and pupils, and introduce scholarship and educational support initiatives where possible. He also stressed the importance of community participation in school management.
On healthcare, the aspirant said his administration would focus on strengthening primary healthcare centres across all wards, improving maternal and child health services, and promoting public health awareness on sanitation, nutrition, and disease prevention through partnerships with non-governmental organizations.
Addressing security concerns, Oluwasina promised stronger collaboration with security agencies and community-based security groups, support for community policing initiatives, and improved street lighting and environmental safety measures to help curb crime.
He also assured residents of transparent and accountable governance, promising open management of public resources, equitable distribution of development projects across all wards, and regular town hall meetings to engage citizens directly in decision-making.
The vice chairman stressed that his administration would prioritize unity and inclusive development, noting that every town, ward, and village in the local government would have a voice in governance.
Oluwasina called on residents of Ido Local Government Area to support his aspiration, stating that collective effort and community cooperation are essential to achieving sustainable progress.
He added that with the support of the people, the local government can be transformed into a stronger and more prosperous council that meets the needs of all residents.
