Hopecrest Retains Top Spot at OOF Mathematics Competition as Alawode Emioluwa Shines

The Second Edition of the Olusegun Okanlawon Mathematics Competition (OOMC) for senior secondary schools across the Ibarapa zone was successfully held on Saturday, December 6, 2025, at the Oyo State College of Agriculture and Technology (OYSCATECH), Igboora. Organised by the Olusegun Okanlawon Foundation, the competition highlighted the region’s rising academic standards and was efficiently supervised by the Ibarapa Zone Education Inspectorate.

The programme kicked off at 11:00 a.m., following careful verification of participants. Thirty-seven schools presented their candidates, each accompanied by teachers, ensuring smooth coordination and discipline throughout the examination process.

At the conclusion, Alawode Emioluwa of Hopecrest College, Igboora, emerged as the overall winner. Olojede Promise of Royal Diadem College, Igangan, came second, while Olagoke Gbolahan of Baptist Model High School, Eruwa, claimed third place. Their exceptional performances reflect both individual brilliance and the sustained academic excellence of their schools.

Notably, Hopecrest College and Royal Diadem College secured the top two positions for the second consecutive year, repeating their dominance from the inaugural edition. This consistent performance underscores structured preparation, strong Mathematics proficiency, and unwavering commitment to academic excellence within these institutions.

In recognition of excellence, the event included the announcement of cash awards for the top three contestants. The first-place winner is slated to receive ₦150,000, the second-place student ₦100,000, and the third-place student ₦50,000. These prizes will be formally disbursed at the grand finale of the Foundation’s end-of-the-year event.

The Foundation lauded the organisation, conduct, and turnout of the competition, reaffirming its mission to advance educational standards and encourage students to excel in Mathematics and STEM disciplines. Monitoring officers provided pictorial and documentary evidence, confirming the transparency and orderliness of the event.

The OOF Mathematics Competition remains a key academic intervention in Ibarapa, nurturing young talent, fostering school excellence, and promoting a culture of academic competitiveness across the region.
